Commission Canberra Glassworks 2025

The production of a series of new works in lead crystal pink glass, kiln cast and cold worked with Canberra Glassworks, ACT.

Taken from my geologist father’s archives, selected glass casts were made in crystal and later cold polished.  The geologist pic, once a robust steel functional instrument  takes on a new meaning through the inherent instability of its form and function as a glass form taking on a ghostly presence. Silica sand, a key component in glass, is extracted from the earth and formed into glass through extreme heating processes, highlighting the interconnectedness of geology and ancient industry of turning Sand, calcium carbonate and earth pigments into glass.
