Being ‘so into you’ shares with the audience a collection of sculptures, textiles and watercolours that looks to strata as its subject, embodied and embedded in stories and through the turn towards the geologic to make sense of a rapidly changing earth.
In my preparations for a fieldtrip undertaken in remote Nyamal, Ngarluma, Yindjibarndi, Banyjima, Pilbara, I accessed an online GIS-based mapping tool that allows users to view, query, and locate various geology, resources, and related datasets. The areas on the site I visited were coded and layered in multiple forms, colours, and patterns and became the source of colour choices for these large scale works on paper. The falling domes and smooth shapes reference the erosive actions of weathering over time, which have evolved from previous pour works about memory and the weather.
